The Process

penPlease call me at 205-835-0811. I’ll conduct a short information gathering session to determine if I can help you (if not, I will provide you with competent referrals). If it’s determined we can work well together, we’ll set up an appointment. As part of our phone intake, we will discuss payment sources including possible insurance coverage for your sessions. Since Covid, I have been mostly conducting telehealth sessions and plan to continue in this practice

Upon our first session, we’ll collaborate and define mutual goals to help set the structure for our work. A counseling session is 50 minutes, unless otherwise noted. We start at the top of the hour and end at ten minutes before the next. Please show up a few minutes early for the first session so you can find the building. If you’re late for visits this will cut into your time, given there will be clients scheduled behind you. If we are working via telehealth, I will send you a Zoom link through your e-mail at your scheduled time. It is imperative you find a secure, private place to talk and a solid internet connection since this won’t interrupt the session with technical glitches. I can guarantee your privacy on my end, but encourage you to set up private space on your end.

I accept only BC&BS and will check your mental health benefits before we start the session so you are clear on your deductible. If you are paying out of pocket, my hourly fee as of January 2022 is:

$125.00 – Individual Sessions

Though I am trained as a family systems therapist, I no longer see families and couples but have some strong referrals for you if needed.

I have a limited amount of sliding scale fees (which currently are filled). I accept cash, credit card or PayPal, no personal checks.
