Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerful, evidence-based model of psychotherapy that views the mind as made up of different “parts,” each with its own distinct thoughts, feelings, and roles. IFS posits that individuals have a core “Self,” which is calm, compassionate, and capable of healing. However, this Self can become overshadowed by wounded or protective parts due to trauma or emotional distress. These parts may take on extreme roles, such as “managers” trying to control situations or “exiles” holding pain and shame. IFS therapy helps individuals reconnect with their Self and build a trusting relationship with these parts, allowing them to heal and integrate. By acknowledging and healing the underlying wounds of these parts, IFS fosters self-compassion, emotional clarity, and inner harmony, leading to personal transformation.
Those inner parts contain valuable qualities, and our core Self knows how to heal, allowing us to become integrated and whole. In IFS all parts are welcome. I am a Level two trained IFS therapist which includes training in addictions and eating disorders.
